Founded in 2009, MicroVentures is an online equity crowdfunding platform for startups and investors. It considers itself a crowdfunded investment bank for early stage startups and emphasizes its level of service, for both issuers and investors.

Between primary and secondary transactions over $30 million has been raised on MicroVentures platform to date.

Deal Flow

Microventures is a highly curated platform. It offers accredited investors three primary products:

  1. Primary investments in curated early-stage startups
  2. Secondary investments in selected later-stage startups
  3. Real estate investments (coming soon)

For its startup investments Microventures targets existing companies in need of $100,000 to $1,000,000 in growth capital. It looks for the following in its due diligence:

  • Must have a unique idea or an innovative spin to old technology;
  • Startups with market traction, which could be in a Alpha or Beta customers, partnerships, revenue or other metrics that define success; and
  • Solid team with experience in the industry.

Fee Structure

For Investors

  • Success Fee* 5%

For Issuers

  • Success Fee* 5%
  • Carried Interest 10%

* Total success fee of 10%: half paid by investors; half paid by the issuer.

Executive Team

Tim Sullivan

CEO & Principal

As Chief Executive Officer of MicroVentures, Tim Sullivan is accountable for the strategic direction and functional execution of business objectives. Formerly, as President of Sharespost Financial Corporation, Tim built the team and trading infrastructure which was responsible for Sharepost's preeminent position in today's secondary market. Tim transacted with over 30 private issuers, representing over $1B in transactions, resulting in over $30mm in revenue to Sharespost. Previously, Tim has held leadership roles at Susquehanna Financial Group, Oracle, and IBM. Throughout Tim's career, he has managed more than $3B worth of private equity transactions and enjoys a consistent track record of surpassing expectations. Tim has a Bachelor of Art in Political Science from Colgate University and while at Colgate, he founded, coached, and played on their water polo team. He currently sits on the board of the Montessori Children's House and he holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 66, 79, and 99 licenses.

Tim is based in our San Francisco office.

Bill Clark

President & Founder

With more than a decade of top level management experience in the credit risk management and financial services industry, Bill brings to the company key strategic focus and critical evaluation skills essential to both the investor and startup business components of MicroVentures. As Risk Manager at an online payment processing company, Bill's responsibilities included managing risk on the merchant side of the business. His comprehensive approach to the company stems from key experience previously helping manage a billion dollar portfolio of small business accounts as Credit Risk Manager in the Small Business Risk Management Division of a captive financial institution. He holds a BS in finance from Michigan State University as well as Series 7, 24, 63 and 79 licenses. In his spare time Bill likes to explore Austin, TX with his wife Jessica and 2 young daughters and whenever possible enjoys playing a pickup game of basketball with friends. Bill is based in our Austin office.
